Standing in the aisle of my local box store I heard one grandma say to another grandma, “Do you know what American Girl dolls are?”  The other grandma said, “No, never heard of them.”

Now, from this conversation you can deduce a lot of things.  My first thoughts were: “Boy, you haven’t been around your grandkids too much have you?”  and “You must be rich!”  Ok, so not the holiest of thoughts, but hey, it’s what I thought.  I also decided to step in and get a feel for this poor, lost grandma.

I asked her a few questions, like, “Do you really want American Girl brand?”  “Are you ready to spend $100 right out of the gate?” and “Would you settle for an alternative?”  After talking for a few minutes I sent her on her way with some ideas and a more complete, budget-friendly Christmas list.  Ah, that felt good.

See, I myself have a seven-year-old daughter.  You may know her as Beanie.  She loves dolls and has a hand-me-down American Girl doll from her cousins as well as several other 18″ (this is the key) dolls.  I was planning on heading back to said box store to purchase an outfit or two for her dolls for Christmas.

However……………….

This morning I got on Facebook and to my delight a blogging buddy of mine Janelle from Queen of the House of Boys posted about what she’s been doing lately.  Well, guess what?  She’s been populating her store Mama’s Happy Space and the greatest part is – they are selling handmade 18″ doll clothes that are Out-Of-This-World cute!

Of course I immediately ordered two outfits and they are adorable.  I can’t wait to give them to Beanie for 3 Kings Day!!!!
