Five Minute Friday: Bare

5 min Friday

GO

Bare, dry, windswept land stretches before me, as far as the eye can see.

Left to my own devices I would strain to construct a shelter, a hovel of ghost-town proportions.  With winds, always blowing, dust swirling, eyes squinting against the harsh light.  Left to myself, I would eek out a life, planting seed in the dusty ground.  Seeds destined to be blown far away with no hope of life.

Instead I wait.

Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice.  (Phil. 4:4)

As I survey the land, a green shoot pokes up.

The Lord’s shout is powerful,  the Lord’s shout is majestic. (Ps.29:4)

Suddenly the ground cover rushes forward in unfathomable shades of green, blossoms popping and bursting forth in color.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power. (Ps. 147:5)

A lush landscape bubbles up from the depths and spreads out in every direction.

For you, oh Lord, are worthy of all our praise. (2 Sam. 22:4)

Sweet scented air swirls around me and the world comes to life.

I will praise the Lord at all times, my mouth will continually praise Him. (Ps. 34:1)

Psalms of gratitude, joy and praise flow freely from my innermost being.  I am adorned in a robe of grace and I put on the full armor of God, ready go forth.

My eyes flutter open.

It’s time to get up.
