Five Minute Friday: HOME

5 min Friday

GO

Home is the end of the week when he finally walks in the door from hours on the road and we’ve gotten through all the transitions, that some weeks take longer than others, and the kids are asleep and we finally have a moment to wrap our arms around each other and breathe.

breatheAs we do, it starts off out of sync, like our moments upon seeing each other again after our days apart.  Soon, we begin to breathe together, in and out, light puffs of air evaporating above our heads.

And we try to hold the moment for as long as we can.  But time and responsibilities and a new week force us out of rhythm again.  Separately breathing yet longing to be together.

Perhaps this will just be a season.  Maybe it will last longer.  For now,we live for the moments when we can breathe together, a syncopated time.

Just the two of us, home.

I love this Debi! so few words, so much emotion! even those of us with husbands who don’t travel can identify with this one!

  6. Love your dedication to re-engage. :)

    Oh, Debi
Those moments are perhaps short and far between, those where you can just breathe together with the love of your heart, but they are soooo precious! And a time will come when life will be slower and with more time to spend together, not just breathing, but also laughing and living and just being. Over via FMF.
    Much love

I have a lump in my throat. The emotion kind. Maybe because as I type this my husband has been stuck for an hour and a half on 285 in Atlanta and he still has an hour to go once his truck breaks free of the gridlock. It does take effort to reconnect. To get in sync. I loved how you wrote this.

    • I feel your pain sister. I hope your husband makes it home safe and sound. It is hard when they are away, I know. I hope your weekend together is wonderful and relaxing and a great time of reconnecting. Thank you for stopping by today. It’s always great to “see” you!

When my husband travels, there’s always a transition to settling back into two+ the kids – and it takes effort, patience – and faith in what’s there – you show it beautifully!

After reading your words I have tears in my eyes. Hearing how precious those times of being able to breath together are to you and then realizing that I take them for granted everyday. Thank you for such a sweet reminder to embrace each moment.

    • Thank you Amy. We definitely have to work hard not to take our moments together for granted – whether with a spouse or a child or a friend. Thank you so much for stopping by today. Welcome to Funki Planet!

Thanks for letting us inside your private world. It’s a reminder that reconnected after any time apart doesn’t happen automatically. Each moment together must be treasured & savoured.

A gazillion high-fives to you for holding down the fort during the time your Mr. Awesome is away :)
